As cities across North Texas begin to redraw their council districts, the North Texas Muslim Leadership Alliance calls for a process that is transparent from the start, that keeps communities of interest whole, and that gives residents a meaningful opportunity to be heard before maps are adopted.
Fair districts are the foundation of fair representation. We ask each city to publish its timeline and draft maps early, to hold hearings at times and places working families can reach, and to explain in plain language how public comment shaped the final result.
The Alliance will follow the process in every city where our members serve or reside, and stands ready to work with councils, commissions and neighbours of every background toward maps that serve the whole community.
